🌾 Brest Region: Agricultural Heartland
The Brest Region, located in southwestern Belarus, is renowned as the country’s agricultural heartland, leading the nation in per capita production of potatoes, vegetables, and dairy products. With an annual potato harvest exceeding 2 million tons and a self-sufficiency rate of nearly 400%.
However, prior to RFI’s intervention, potato processing in Brest relied on outdated facilities with low extraction rates, high energy consumption, and inadequate environmental controls. The region’s food manufacturers were forced to import high-quality potato starch at premium prices, undermining their competitiveness.
Against this backdrop, the Brest 100T/D Potato Starch Plant Project emerged as a strategic initiative to modernize the region’s agricultural processing sector, delivered as a complete turnkey solution by RFI. Located in Khoreva village of Pruzhany District, the plant was specifically engineered to address the unique challenges of Belarusian potato varieties and operate efficiently in the region’s cold climate conditions.
